Welcome to Friends of The Green Bag Project! We are a dedicated group of volunteers,
passionate about our community and growing together through intentional action. In our group we share project updates and calls to action, raise awareness, foster a spirit of collaboration through community-learning sessions, potlucks, organizing community events and taking walks together around the city.
If you want to connect, support The Green Bag Project mission, or simply wish to be part of an intentional community, join in our journey of #Leadingwithkindness

"Ubuntu promotes social coherence through mentoring, helping people to share their stories, identifying with one another and realizing
our mutual need."
Welcome to Friends of TGBP! Our mission is to "ubuntufy"— to bring out the authentic humanity in everyone by acknowledging and honouring the dignity and humanity of each person with care and compassion. We recognize that this requires us to face discomfort and cultivate empathy, motivating us to take compassionate action. Your role as a volunteer is essential as we work alongside marginalized and vulnerable members of our community, ensuring they receive the care and understanding they truly need. Thank you for being a part of this important journey!

Our patrons frequently experience neglect, discrimination, abandonment, and both physical and emotional harm. As a potential care-collaborator, our big ask of our volunteers is to embrace empathy, be open to the discomfort of unlearning harmful stereotypes and learning new ways of leading with kindness. We require our volunteers to join our Friends of The Green Bag Project group, as a measure of safety, care and responsibility for our community patrons and because we know learning, healing and growing is best done in community.

We're a network-centric organization, which means that we reach more people and more resources through connecting to the people in our respective networks. As a member of our volunteering group, you'll learn a lot about collaborating with people living homeless and the value of mental health awareness raising and embodied practices as mediums of communal healing and activism. You'll also be asked to help us fundraise, organize community events and have the opportunity to volunteer in our workshops. Mostly, you'll learn how to make a big difference with a little intention, creativity and a few kind hearts in the mix!
