Build a Community

The biggest part of putting together a successful Green Bag project is building a community. To make sure your bag project is truly a community effort, you need to tell everyone about your project and ask them all for help.

People that work or interact with schools will often have huge amounts of resources and connections to help you get started. If you are really ambitious you can also try to find someone to do a Green Bag Schools Project at the same time as you work on your bag project. This is a similar project but specifically for schools and accompanied by an environmental curriculum (see Schools Project on the toolbar).

I suggest you schedule two “get together” dates for everyone involved with the project. Schedule the first get together for the completion of the bag artwork, as this will allow everyone to introduce themselves and explain why they are involved in the project. Everyone can network and begin to feel like a team. Schedule the second get together for the arrival date of your bags. A local café is a perfect place for this.

I’m sure you are more networking savvy than I was when I started but in case you feel like you could use a bit of professional advice, check out The Networking Survival Guide by Diane Darling.
